Museum of Modern Arts

On visiting this museum, I was deeply impressed not only by a grandiose collection of modern works of art, covering all the aspects of life, but also by its accessibility to a wide public: from scholars to children. I was highly interested in MoMA’s Educational Department, creating so many interesting and fascinating programs and materials for children in a playing manner, involving them into modern culture learning. My daughter, Dorothy, being only 8 years old, to my great surprise, listened to artistic talk A Closer Look for Kids (5 - 10 years) very attentively and was very delightful at creating her own art in a hands-on workshop! Then together with other families we listened to stories of well-known illustrators in The Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture Garden and the children were very active, asking questions how they make books and draw in them. Our happy and educational day was merrily finished by live performances, where my girl took part and played her role brilliant! We were also proposed to take part in Modern Kids – the audio guide in an exploration of the collection with music, poetry, performances, introducing childish drawings and works of art. Dorothy wished very much to try herself (as a matter of fact, she has interesting drawings and may be something would come out of this!), but unfortunately we had no time and made up our mind to take part in this competition some other time! The day was very saturated and full of new information and pleasant emotions, but we weren’t tired at all! At home all the talks were about this visit to the Museum of Modern Arts! My girl boasted to her friends in school and almost all the class intended to go there; thus, the teacher had to plan such an excursion too! Next week Dorothy with her class are going there! Good luck and a lot of fun to them!
